Reality Construction: Framing PPATK Account Blocking on Online Media

This study aims to analyze media framing and social construction in reporting on the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) policy regarding the blocking of inactive accounts. The case study focuses on two national online media outlets, namely Detik Finance and CNBC Indonesia, which cover similar issues but emphasize different perspectives. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a framing analysis model of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki, which includes four structures: syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical. The results show that Detik Finance emphasizes the context of PPATK's clarification and explanation as a form of public issue management, while CNBC Indonesia emphasizes aspects of potential risks and the policy's impact on customers. These differences in framing reflect each media's reality construction strategy in shaping public opinion, both through the selection of sources, the arrangement of information flow, and the choice of diction that leads to certain perceptions. This study confirms that media framing has a significant influence on public understanding and attitudes toward government policies
