Implementation of the Learning Process Standards Based on the Independent Curriculum at SMP Negeri 1 Berastagi: A Study on Planning, Execution, Assessment, and Supervision

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of learning process standards based on the Merdeka Curriculum at SMP Negeri 1 Berastagi, Karo Regency, North Sumatra. The study covers four aspects: planning, implementation, assessment, and supervision of learning. The method used is qualitative descriptive with a case study design. Data were collected through classroom observations, document review, and unstructured interviews with teachers. The results of the study show that: (1) planning has been carried out systematically through Teaching Modules, ATP, and CP tailored to the characteristics of students; (2) implementation applies a student-centered learning approach with active models such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and group discussions; (3) assessment integrates diagnostic, formative, and summative evaluations, as well as character assessment through the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5); and (4) supervision is done in layers through internal school principal supervision, digital monitoring via the Merdeka Mengajar Platform, and external audits by the Education Office. The implementation of the process standards in this school has been in line with Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation No. 16 of 2022 and shows real efforts towards quality and accountable learning
